What is Core Wellness?

Core is a mental wellness company that delivers mobile-guided meditation through a handheld training device and connected app. While users engage with expert-led meditation and breathwork sessions, the device provides real-time feedback using dynamic vibrations, light patterns, and biometric data from integrated ECG sensors. This data helps monitor stress, track progress, and personalize content recommendations through the app over time.

Core's Challenges

Customer experience is critical for a connected wellness device — especially at first touch. Even minor issues can disrupt functionality and damage trust.

As Core prepared for launch, they needed a reliable way to test production units and ensure flawless execution of key features: Bluetooth communication and device firmware updates (DFUs). Since every Core device required a firmware upgrade before use, failure wasn’t an option.

Core partnered with Punch Through to design a solution that would ensure a smooth, successful rollout. We quickly engaged and delivered on three critical projects to support their launch.

Designed an Android Test App for Manufacturing

Designed an Android application to test the Core hardware through a simple interface, ensuring proper performance of every product prior to shipment.

Developed Firmware Updates for iOS Production App

Developed a robust DFU solution in iOS for performing firmware updates that could recover from all possible failures prior to use.

Updated Architecture & BLE Dev for Android Production App

Updated architecture, designed BLE communication, and built DFU functionality in Android under an aggressive timeline to meet product launch date.

Improved DFU performance on iOS and Android ensured Core was fully prepared for launch. After integration, the team reported:
